CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
A safe, effective and drug-free way to become well and stay healthy, naturally!

Herbal medicine is more accurately called herbal medicinals since they may include vegetable, animal, and mineral ingredients. Herbal medicinals actually the main treatment method within Oriental Medicine, accounting for more than 80% of treatments in Asia.

     Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicinals

Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture are complimentary therapeutic modalities that are often used together in the treatment of a variety of medical conditions. Although acupuncture was the first Oriental method of treatment to gain wide acceptance in the West, Oriental herbal medicine is quickly establishing itself as one of the most popular and effective alternative therapies in the West.

Over its long history of some 5,000 years, Chinese medicinal herbology has evolved into an art form of its own. Its written history stretches back over 2,500 years, and some of the formulas used today are thousands of years old. Ancient herbal information was gathered, compiled, formulated, tested, and handed down from generation to generation. Today, practitioners of Chinese medicine continue to prescribe these same herbal formulas because they work extremely well. Qualified TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) practitioners who make use of Chinese medicinals are generally familiar with more than 500 medicinals in the pharmacopeias.

     How Does It Work?
  • The herbal medicinals come in a variety of forms, to suit each person. The medicinals may be raw and completely unprocessed, or in available in prepared forms (such as tablets, capsules, pills, powders, or tinctures) for patients who prefer not to spend hours boiling and decocting of their medicinals.
  • The Chinese medicinals prescribed for your condition may include vegetable, animal, and mineral ingredients, however, the majority of ingredients are from plant sources. [Vegetarians may always request animal-free herbal formulas.] Leaves, flowers, twigs, stems, roots, tubers, rhizomes, and bark are among the plant parts used.
  • Formulas are modified to suit each individual patient's particular diagnosis. Thus, all formulas are personalized and customized depending on each patient's entire health profile.
  • All herbal medicinals prescribed are GMP certified to ensure quality, cleanliness, and proper preparation. In addition, western herbs and/or supplements are also prescribed on occasion, depending on the patient's particular condition.

         Are They Safe?
It must be remembered that although they are relatively safe with few side-effects, medicinals are used for their pharmacological compounds just like prescription drugs. In fact, many drugs (such as aspirin) were originally derived from herbs. The herbal formulas we prescribe are balanced and combined to prevent side-effects or unwanted results. Patients are warned against self-medicating with generic over-the-counter herbs that may not suit them or that may cause unwanted side-effects over the long term.
